The Thames at night

The Thames is Britain’s busiest river and it’s working harder for us now than ever before. In this landmark series, Sir Tony Robinson joins workforces along and on the river as it comes alive at night to make sure our 24/7 demands are met.

About This Production

We all know that London never sleeps – and it is equally true that the River Thames never sleeps. When the rest of the world winds down, on the water and along its banks, pools of highly lit factories and buildings, vessels and bridges come alive as the nightshift kicks in.

As a successor to the highly successful Britain’s Greatest River, this documentary series uncovers the remarkable stories of what the Thames gets up to after dark.

With extraordinary access to organisations, iconic landmarks, emergency services and extreme engineering projects each episode features illuminating stories full of big characters, fascinating history and content-rich unfolding actuality, offering a diverse and dynamic flavour of a river that comes alive when we go to bed.
