FremantleMedia International (FMI) plans to get international audiences moving after acquiring the global distribution rights (excluding the UK and EIRE) for the collection of Joe Wicks: The Body Coach titles from Full Fat TV.
Joe Wicks, aka The Body Coach, is famed for his unique brand of exercise and nutrition. After taking the world of social media by storm and writing the second best-selling cookbook of all time, Lean in 15, Joe brings his popular fitness plans from the digital world to TV screens, enrolling the public to join his fitness revolution.
The Joe Wicks fronted shows will make their first appearance to Global TV buyers at the upcoming MIPTV.
In his first show, Joe Wicks: The Body Coach (1 x 60), Joe trained ordinary people over 30, 60 or 90 days, to see what could be achieved when you put your mind to it. Following on from the success of this show, Joe returns with a new two-parter, Joe Wicks: The Body Coach 2017 (2 x 60), where he goes in search of volunteers who are willing to commit 90 days of their lives to his regime – a mix of healthy eating, home cooking and intense but short HIIT (High-intensity interval training) exercises.
Joe Wicks, said: “Getting lean and feeling great is something everyone anywhere in the world can relate to. Gone are the days of spending endless hours in the gym and eating tasteless food for weight loss. My programmes show you how to combine the right exercises with the right foods at the right time to achieve the body that you want. I can’t wait for these shows to go global and help spread my message to every corner of the world.”
Angela Neillis, Director of Non-Scripted, UK, EMEA and Asia Pacific, FMI, said:
“With our expertise in global brand management, we’re excited to be working with Full Fat TV to showcase Joe Wicks: The Body Coach to buyers worldwide. Full Fat TV has created a collection of entertaining, modern exercise and nutrition shows that are relevant and in keeping with the times. Joe’s infectious personality has already proven to be a hit with the public and we’re confident that these shows will strike a chord with viewers across the globe.”
Colette Foster, Creative Director Full Fat TV, said: “These shows combine a fresh look at diet and exercise with a rising charismatic talent, Joe Wicks, who has already made such a phenomenal impact in the digital space and with his books. Joe Wicks: The Body Coach was a hit when it aired in the UK and we’re delighted to work with FremantleMedia International to take this, as well as the new shows, to viewers all over the world.”
Full Fat TV became part of the FremantleMedia family last year following an investment deal that saw FremantleMedia take a 25% stake in the production company.
Joe Wicks joins FMI’s catalogue of culinary stars, which includes Nigella Lawson, Jamie Oliver, Jimmy Doherty, The Hairy Bikers, Lorraine Pascal, Martha Stewart, Anthony Bourdain, Silvia Colloca, Anabel Langbein and Haylie Duff.
