Series 1 – Episode 3

Here’s an interesting little nugget that Tony Robinson learns from the guide on a Thames river bus – the last people imprisoned in the Tower of London without being executed were, of all people, East End gangsters Ronnie and Reggie Kray.

It’s a leisurely interlude in a bustling episode – Robinson dons compulsory suit and tie to visit the trading floor of the London Metal Exchange, an absolute bear pit of smart-looking men yelling at each other and into phones. Robinson sits on his hands during what looks like mayhem, just in case he spends billions.

He also has a go at doing a bit of maintenance on the raised Tower Bridge. It looks terrifying.
