About This Production

Sextortion is a rapidly rising crime. Criminals pose as attractive girls online and seduce young men into sending explicit photos, before threatening to post these pictures online unless their victims pay money. The NCA reports that sextortion is the most prevalent form of image abuse in the UK. Ashamed, embarrassed, and often without the means to pay, tens of thousands of young British men and boys have become victims of this blackmail. In the worst cases, this shocking scam has contributed to the suicides of four British teenagers. Yet most perpetrators are operating abroad and getting away with their crimes.

To draw attention to the tactics used by criminals and the impunity they face, in this immersive film, musician and mental health advocate Jordan Stephens goes to the extreme of getting himself sextorted. His investigation takes him to the streets of Nigeria as he tracks down his blackmailer and attempts to confront them face-to-face. Jordan explores why Nigeria has become such a hotbed for this crime. Back in the UK, he meets the victims of sextortion including a courageous family, who have lost their loved one to suicide.
