‘Sun, sea and sass’: Channel 4’s new reality show Shipmates could be the perfect replacement Survival Of The Fittest

There’s plenty of choice out there for connoisseurs of reality TV.

But with everyone’s latest guilty pleasure, Survival Of The Fittest, now all wrapped up there’s a hole in our lives (and the schedule) for another show with a competitive twist, and Channel 4 may just have filled that slot.

Their latest show Shipmates will see two teams of friends jetting off to join a horde of fellow fun-seekers on a party-fueled luxury cruise ship, the Vision of the Seas as part of the Anchored Cruise.

The two groups will be flying to the Med to join over 2000 other twenty somethings seeking the ultimate party experience on the once-in-a-lifetime experience. BUT, it’s not all smooth sailing on the sunny seas, as the would-be party people will have to compete in a host of challenges.

Only one group will rein victorious, but in another twist the real winners will be voted for by their fellow passengers.

Two groups of mates will be jetting off to the Med joining thousands of tanned and toned twenty somethings for a once-in-a-lifetime party aboard one of Europe’s most lavish cruise liners. Across this five-part series, the two teams of five will compete in a host of challenges. But only one group will be victorious when, at the end of the cruise, their fellow passengers vote for their favourite team.

Becky Cadman, commissioning editor for Factual Entertainment , said: ‘We’re excited to be working with Midlands indie Full Fat TV on a series that’s guaranteed to be full of sun, sea and sass.

Shipmates has yet to have an air date confirmed.

Anchored Cruise aims to mix the luxury lifestyle elements of a cruise with the party vibes of a festival, bringing guests some of the biggest DJs and most exclusive events while they soak up the sun across a number of destinations in the Med.
